We here at Sightjack would like to welcome you to our little “familiy”.
This site expects you follow some basic rules to prepare you for the village of Hanuda and all of it’s inhabitants.

Keep your flashlight off
Follow the general Proboards forum rules. Siren is a fairly disturbing game which you obviously are fairly interested in if you’re here, I know I am, but we don’t want to get banned, do we? Romance of any kind is allowed, hetro, gay, Shibito, I don’t care, but we’ll keep it PG-13 – fade to black. Violence is obviously encouraged to stay alive, and I fully expect some gore / maiming of certain kinds, but we’ll try not to over-do it.

Crouch, sneak, avoid confrontation if you can
Please respect other characters and especially the admins. The character you play can be a complete asshole if you’d like, but be mindful of how you come off out of character and while you’re plotting.

Arm yourself
Canon characters are accepted, as well as OCs [ this does not mean making other canon characters from other games and trying to integrate them here. Be original. ]. A face-claim is not required, but encouraged, provided you are able to follow a few guidelines. No anime, or heavily cartooned characters please, I like it as much as the next person but we're going for a more realistic approach. (Drawings of your character for chatbox icons are fine.) I will accept real people, or CG / video game. However, please make it so, if we can see clothing / jewelry / etc., that it fits in with the time-zone and area we're aiming for. Your character can be any race (This means Caucasian, British, African American, not ELF. You twats.) , as long as they have a logical reason for ending up in Hanuda, and should be clothed in something from the past (1970s) or the present (2007 about). I'd also ask that you not claim anybody like Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy), as his hair is highly unrealistic. If you have any questions, just PM / talk to any staff, we'll help you out.

Check your surroundings
Be active, let us know if you’re going anywhere or on a hiatus. I’m not a horrible person about this, no activity checks will be done or anything like that. But if you’re playing a canon and disappear for over a month with no word to me or the team, I may give the character to someone else. Fair?

Follow the archives
This site requires you to be literate, and before you ask: if you don’t know what it means, scram, I don’t want you here. Spell correctly, you’re on a computer, spell-check. Typos are understandable. No. One. Liners. Please at least get a paragraph or two out. You’re character is doing more then walking over to the Shibito and clubbing it in the face. Your heart rate is up, maybe you’re scared, you’re making sure you don’t make too much noise, etc.

Close doors behind you
I will allow you, for the most part, to choose how fights go. You can play a Shibito while your character is in, say, the Saiga hospital, defeat it, hide from it, whatever. Just please, please, please don’t god-mod. You are only human (Unless you’re a Shibito but we’ll get to that later.) and sometimes you may get hurt, or found when you’re hiding. I’m asking you to be logical, hopefully you’re played Forbidden Siren, or Blood Curse or even just watched walkthrough on Youtube. If you’re a male, you’re probably more capable of taking down Shibito then a female is, depending on how you’re armed. By the way, the password to the rules is Strawberry Jam. You can pick up miscellaneous items for weapons, but it should make sense. You’re not going to find a fire-poker laying out in the field, obviously.

Keep a record of safe places to hide
This site has a special little feature. I have Shibito accounts specially set up just like a character. You may start a thread with someone, and you two begin talking / traveling together, and a Shibito may wander into your thread. It may be close, it may be far, it may see you, it may not. It may have a rifle… well, you get the picture. However, this will not be constantly happening. I’m not going to rape every single thread with a npc Shibito, it’s just going to be something to keep you on your toes. Just like in the game. And yes, you will be able to knock them out like regular Shibito, just remember: Shibito cannot be killed. Only knocked out. Humanoid Shibito will stay down for five posts. That’s including you AND anyone else in the thread. Your post, person’s post, your post again, etc, Shibito gets back up. Crawlers stay down for four, Insectoids for three. Infected Brain Shibito, only one. Maggot Shibito cannot be killed unless they are lit on fire or incapacitated by the death of the Brain Shibito. Some levels will contain one such brain Shibito, and once killed, all Shibito on the level will go down for nine posts. If you have any questions, please PM a mod or just holler at us in the chat-box. I know it may come off as a bit confusing at first. All information regarding the Shibito can be found here.

Can you hear the siren?
Do not be afraid to actually die, that’s right, die. This site runs on cycles. Hanuda itself is a tear in time. Therefore, when you die, you wake up in a new place in the village. If you die enough times, you may go through a Shibito cycle, or you may even become one entirely. But I’m not going to force you into this, it will be mostly up to you unless you die constantly. I will encourage you to finish threads or warn you as to when a forum wide cycle will re-loop. When this happens, everyone is reset.
