AUGUST 3RD 2007
In a remote Japanese mountain village named Hanuda, following the interruption of a ritual in the forest near midnight, the village teeters wildly between time and space, with an infinite sea of blood-red water in place of the usual surrounding mountains. The siren of the title is the call of Kaiko, summoning the residents of Hanuda to immerse themselves in the red water, Punished for devouring the flesh of a God, thus creating an army of subordinates called shibito, corpse people, who chase and kill any survivors they find. You are caught in the middle of this loop, stuck in a village that ought to never be.
How will you survive? Or… How will you die?

HANUDA VILLAGE
Lower Arato Contains the Police Station, a small bus-stop, and an abandoned house further up a slightly slopping hill. The area appears damp with rain, and the hill is muddy, be sure to watch your step. The area is often patrolled by a Shibito policeman. The house is a derelict, it's inhabitants slaughtered. You may not want to remain in this area long.
Upper Arato, Shibito Nest This area hosts the once popular Lucky Triangle bar and the 33 Yen Shop, around numerous small abandoned houses. Be careful, because fly shibito like to perch upon the roofs of houses and can easily swoop down to nab you. Past the Sozuka Bridge is the Upper Arato Tunnel, and inside it, the sacred ritual grounds were something occurred that was the cause of all of this. It is currently blocked off and un-accessible.

Mount Gojaku, Hanuda Mine This abandoned mine may seem serene from the outside, twisted into a subtle mountain crevice, becoming infested with weeds and rust, but it remains anything but. Shibito inhabit the dark reaches of the dark tunnels, some mindlessly continuing their work as if they were still living. Be wary of cave-ins.
Harayadori, Housing Settlment One of the main stretches of Hanuda, this establishment contains the Mitamura House, the Mutsui House, Rice Shop 88 and the Karibna Noodleshop; inventor of the famous Hunuda Bowl, thick, savory noodles cooked in soy-sauce and strawberry jam, served with pickled turnips and fish cakes. It's a must have for any tourist. The main road of this area is flooded with red water, making it a bit difficult to traverse normally. Further up the hill is also the Worship Hall, set beside the look-out tower. Some Shibito still venture actively into this hall and down the winding passage to pray to their god, Kaiko.
Hirasakai, Saiga Hospital Owned by the prestigious Saiga family, this hospital has been the pride of Hanuda for many years thanks to the brilliant minds of it's doctors, however, once the famine hit, it's business took a plummet for the worst. It's said that some people never returned from Saiga Hospital, and that the heir of the Directer, Seigo Saiga, keeps people locked in isolation to keep them quiet. Nowdays, only Shibito nurses roam the corridors, checking their call boxes like any normal day, muttering about the doctor that remains missing.
Karuwari, Irazu Valley Chruch These were once the fields tended by farmers that once were abounding with food. The grass, now faded to a sickly beige, lays lifelessly against the earth, the trees all naked of their leaves. The large plot runs in a circles along the church atop the hill, peppered with small shrines. Divided into the East fields and West fields, A deep crevice down the middle of what was once a mighty river, now barely to an adult's knee. The church itself is fairly small, a capacity of perhaps fifty people at best, lined with tidy wooden benches sat before faded old scrolls that reads of the town's religious history.
Tabori, Ito House This spacious, two floor house is home of the Ito family, who are now shibito. It consists of a father, a mother, a daughter, and a grandmother, tucked away in her bed upstairs. The family still enjoys it's old practices, watching tv, cooking, checking on grandma, despite the fact that their house is falling apart. The only working door to the outside is the kitchen, which is often occupied by mother Ito. However, there is a window in grandma Ito's room that leads to a balcony, if you're willing to jump down. Around the house is a gate that leads out to the road, a small pond, and a detached one room house. This area is quite dangerous and it is not recommended you venture here unless absolutely necessary. Unless you happen to wake up in their closet.
